Sue Read Artist
"I would definitely recommend. Elliot was kind, considerate, and patient and nothing was too much trouble with his key aim making sure I was happy with the result and that it would achieve our initial objectives.
I valued and appreciated his expertise in this field along with the process of deciding how I wanted to convey my business and making sure the customer journey was going to give the best results for my online presence. There was a good working relationship with all questions answered. It was far more involved than I at first realised and it seemed to be no problem to tweak and change things as we went along. I now have a professional presence online that reflects who I am and what I do. I also have an online shop which has resulted in more business and orders."

Project summary
WordPress to Shopify
This project involved migrating an existing bespoke-coded WordPress website to the Shopify platform. Sue needed more control over her content and visual design, and while products were being displayed on the original site, it lacked true e-commerce functionality — they had been added without the ability to purchase directly online.
The first step was to agree on the design and user experience. As a creative individual, it was essential that the new website not only functioned well but also beautifully represented Sue’s artwork and her deep connection to Bude, the area she lives in and loves. This stage of the project involved exploring different layouts and building working prototypes for Sue to test and refine the user journey.
I always enjoy working with artists, and I’m mindful that their products are more than just items for sale — they’re an extension of themselves. That’s why this phase of the project goes beyond simply building a shop; it’s about creating a space that respects and reflects the artistic identity of the person behind it.
Once the design was agreed, the existing content was carefully migrated to the Shopify platform. A key challenge at this stage was converting product-style content from WordPress into fully functional e-commerce listings suitable for Shopify. Each product had to be individually reviewed, edited, and prepared before being imported into the new site.
One of the main objectives of the project was to introduce the ability to sell prints alongside Sue’s original artwork. Previously, these two product types had been sold separately, but to simplify and improve the user experience, they were integrated into a single, streamlined shopping journey.
With a strong local profile, Sue was also keen to extend her reach beyond the immediate area. Marketing work was carried out in parallel with the website build, including search engine optimisation to support long-term visibility.
Less than three months after launch, the new website was ranking number one on Google for the search phrase “Cornwall seascapes” — a clear sign that the work done on both design and marketing had delivered results.
